I was in a show last weekend in Ottawa, Canada. Next month I'll have one piece in a group show in Philadelphia. Images of the paintings I sent to LA can be found here.

Hey! I'm in a group show in LA at Cerasoli-LeBasse. The opening is this Saturday, and I'll have 12 new pieces in it.
By the Way, I did a new t-shirt design for Giant Robot. You can get it here.
Yes, yes. My Macbook died again. Hard Drive failure for the second time in about 8 months. I really hate going to the Apple Store. It feels like it dies whenever I need it the most, but I think it's cause I use it all the time. I backed up everything, And I updated my ipod before it crashed, so it's not that big of a deal. But it still sucks. I just have to rephotograph the paintings I just finished.
I'm going down to LA for the this show, which would be there first time I've been down to LA since April. Marci can't make it cause of work, so I'll be down there without here. She has a bunch of traveling stuff lined up which I guess it's a good thing she's not going down there with me.
Uh, what else? Oh, I uploaded a bunch of images from our east coast trip. Here are some photos from the Edward Gorey House. And here are photos from the whole trip.

Hey! My show at GRNY is still up for a week. You can see the show here. In another group show in Brooklyn that opens this Saturday on the 6th. It's put on by Tiny Showcase.
I have a illustration in this pocket diary put out by some very nice Germans. You can get it here. It's the same image I gave to Tiny Showcase for the last time I worked with them. Also I did illustrations for Wet Cats. I just got the book in the mail.

I finished everything for that show last week, and shipped and sent everything on Thursday. Most everything going to this show is in this Flickr set.
I don't know. I guess that's it. Uh, if you're ordering anything from me I won't be able to fill out orders till I get back on the 30th. Uh, I'm not really good with e-mail when I'm traveling, too. So yeah.

I'm still working on that show. Nothing else is new. If you're in the area, you should go. Cause I worked on it. And I think I did an alright job so far. That and I'm flying out for it. Huh?
I did a print with Tiny Showcase. You should buy it, but only if you like it. My charity of choice is the San Francisco SPCA.
Other things:
Marci and I went to Kelly and Ferris' for a Drawing Party. Jay Howell and Michelle were there, too. 10 hours of drawing a drinking lead to a lot of weird things. Some of it pretty awesome. We've been trying to document it as best we can. I put up a set on our Flickr, from all our other drawing parties.
I made Beer Cozies and they're in Store near the bottom. Yes, yes. I used half my economic stimulus check on it. The company I used is from Florida, but I don't know if the cozies were made in the states or in China, but whatever. You should get one. Cause it's pink. And it some how makes things seem way more refreshing. Seriously.
I put more paintings up on our flickr for that show. If you're e-mailing me to get on my mailing list and for that price list I'll have it ready sometime in the next week or two. I started packing some and I'm winding down a little trying to figure out how to get everything out there. So far I have 146 paintings. Although most of it's pretty small work, it's still a lot of stuff to pack and catalog. Some of it gets dirty, and I don't normally sign things, but over the years I find that people aren't so into that. So yeah, I'm making sure stuff is signed. Yeah, yeah.
Oh, all that group drawing stuff is for a reason. We're in some large group show in Brooklyn in early September (4 & 6 are the openings). I don't know who else are in it, except, Me, Marci, Michelle Blade, Ferris Plock and Jay Howell. But there's like 30. I'm coming home early cause we have cats I don't really like being away from them for more than 10 days. But Marci will be out there, and so will Ferris and Jay Howell, and maybe Michelle. So if you're in the New York area you should come by and see that show. And yes, it's a show put on by Tiny Showcase.

I added more paintings here. Pretty much these are the paintings that are going to GRNY in late August. Still making more work, so I'll try updating when I can.
Yeah. I did a print for A Paper Tiger, here. I made a new silkscreen print that I'll put online sometime soon. Also added some stuff to the Etsy Shop.
Thursday June 18, 2008
Yes, Yes. I have new paintings here. I'm kind of sick right now. I've left the house once in the past seven days, but only to buy groceries. I bought stuff for Corned Beef and Cabbage from the Safeway. Safeway's kind of expensive. $1.50 for a head of cabbage? Yeah. I actually don't know if that's really expensive. It's just what Marci says. Yeah, you really can't fuck up Corned Beef and Cabbage. You just boil the shit out of it and then eat it. I probably should have trimmed the fat off before I dumped it in the pot, but seeing bloody things kind of makes want to vomit. I probably should get over that.

So yeah. Nothing much. Tomorrow I'm in a art auction in the City at Intersection for the Arts. I always get their name wrong. Cause tom me "Intersection of the Arts" makes more sense than "for the Arts". But yeah. Whatever. Uh, I started the bidding really low on the piece I donated, but I'm not taking a cut off it, so if you're there you might get a piece for really cheap. After you pay $20 to get in the door.
Uh, yeah. Haven't been really doing much. Just painting and stuff. I haven't finished a painting since the 22nd of May, though. I put ground down a bunch of panels, and I drew stuff on about 50 or so of them. I'm finishing gesso-ing and putting ground on more panels, and then hopefully getting to work and actually finishing stuff. Right now I work at home, and it's all kind of cramped, so I have to do things in waves. Also I don't like wasting stuff, So when I paint, I work on a bunch of panels at the same time. I like to fill in my blacks or my whites at the same time. It cuts down on waste. I'm sorry, my first job was at a recycling plant, so I think about this sort of stuff a lot. Yeah, you don't really need to know that. But whatever. I also have this thing where I can't start on something new unless I finish on whatever I'm working on. It's pretty weird, and it's kind of annoying.
Yeah. Uh, I never actually been this far ahead of schedule for a solo show since I left school. Usually I space out two solo shows a year, but I didn't go for one in April, and yeah. Hopefully I'll be able to survive until August. I think I might have to sell paintings on the side. But yeah. I spent all of March and April drawing and that was totally worth it. I have about 30 paintings on me, 60 that are ready to be painted, and uh, I have 50 panels that are ready to be drawn on. I mean, the painting part is actually the easiest part of it. I mean, most of the problem I have is coming up with stuff to paint and finding things to draw. I pretty much spent the early part of the year combing through the internet and books looking for interesting things to draw. If you look up swords on google, or flickr, you get some really weird stuff.
But yeah. That thing at 111 Minna was pretty sweet. It was a little bit crazier than before, but I think it was cause we got packed in the smaller side of the space. But it's always nice drawing with friends. Even with a spotlight on your face.
I used to sell this button set on my site. Pretty much I just hand drew buttons, and sold them at random to people. They were kind of popular but I felt weird selling things to people at random. Also they're not something I'd give to a shop to sell. Cause uh, they don't really look like they're hand drawn. Mostly cause the pen I use is a Hi-Tec C (which is a really fine pen), so you can't really tell unless you put a pin that was made from a xerox or maybe a inkjet print outs. There's like little dots, and images are kind pixelated. Which I don't if that bothers anyone but it did me. But yeah, anyway. So I took them off my store, but I still made them, so I could have something to put in t-shirt orders. But yeah. Uh, I started an Etsy shop so I didn't have to worry about selling something twice. Etsy is kind of weird. It's 20c to post something and then it's a 50c charge for every purchase. I don't know how I feel about that. I don't really want to think about it too much. Also a shit thing is that you have to sign up for etsy to buy anything. It's kind of annoying. So sorry.
Uh, I started a blog with my girlfriend. I posted something on a peach cobbler. Marci wanted to do it together, but she's not really into stuff like that, but yeah. We have a blog together.
Oh, I did an illustration in the July Issue of Nylon.
I don't know what else is there to say. There might be some grammatical errors above. I'm sorry. It's 4 in the morning, and I don't feel like proof reading. But I'll probably try fixing it in the near future.
Sunday May 25, 2008
Yeah. I'm doing 111 Minna's Sketch Tuesday with friends. It's from 6-9. It's pretty sweet. If you come up to me I'll draw you anything if you ask. Maybe.
Thursday May 15, 2008
Hey! I'm still painting. I'm uploading images of new work here I'm building up for shows on the East Coast in the late summer, So if you're in the New York area, and you'd like to see my work in person that's in late August/early September.
Other Stuff going on: I made this painting for the Tree Show at Giant Robot San Francisco. That opens up on Saturday. I'm making a painting to donate to Intersection of the Arts, which is a non-profit space in San Francisco. Yeah. That's in June I think. I don't know. I can't keep up with my e-mail. I did an illustration for Nylon Magazine. It's in the next one. I drew a map for them. And I started a new sketchbook.
I kind of wish the days were longer. So I can get more stuff done. Like a 28 hour day would be kind of sweet. It just seems like sometimes I don't have enough time to breathe.
Yes, yes. Uh, I turned 29 in April, Marci turned 28 in May, She graduated from the MFA program at CCA, they had a show, we found a studio to share in San Francisco in Dogpatch which is fucking amazing. The light in it is pretty awesome.
Some Documentaries (Sorry this is a list from the past 6 months):
Mark of Cain 2007 - Russian prison tattoos. I bought it online for like $12. It was talked about a lot on the DVD of Eastern Promises.
Helvetica 2007 - It's actually not boring. It's on the typeface. My favorite Helvetica type, is Helvetica Neue Ultra Light. But I actually don't like Helvetica that much.
Why We Fight 2005 - I might have mentioned this one already, but It's a good one.
King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters 2007 - It's a documentary on some guy trying to take the world's high score in Donkey Kong.
Deep Water 2006 - A race to sail around the world goes a little wrong. The extras are really nice.
Maxed Out 2006 - Marci and I don't have credit cards and this shows you the reason why. It's kind of downer.
The BBC Documentary on the Nazis is pretty crazy. They like interview all these people who are like fucked. Usually when you watch something on the Nazis, it's about folks who did good, or went against the grain, but yeah. Those guys are like really rare gems.
PBS Titles: Jonestown, The Rockefellers, Irish Escape, Influenza 1918.
Oh, when you get the chance to you should go to Ruby Mag.
April 10, 2008
Hey, yeah. Sorry there really isn't much to update on. That and my server switched platforms so it's a little harder to update my website the way I do it. It's actually not harder, it's just longer. Uh, I wouldn't recommend Ipower, if you're looking for a server. I found an anti-ipower forum while looking to navigate the platform easier, which was kind of funny, only that uh, yeah. I signed onto uh, 2 more years. But yeah. I kind of don't want to deal with this right now. So yeah. I'm either going to switch to friend's server, or rework my website. But seriously all I want to do is anything but this.
I'm trying to draw more, so I took a break from painting, found a sketchbook that i like drawing in, and yeah. Also I've been trying push all my shows until the fall. But, there's a recession going on, so you really can't sometimes say no, but yeah. I don't know. I listen to NPR too much. It makes it seem like the whole world is collapsing in on itself. It makes me feel guilty buying bottle water and okay with the fact I can't drive. It also makes me think of stupid stuff like, "I should figure out how to convert all my money into Euros", or other things that sound so brilliant at the time but are oh, so not.
But yeah. I'm in a group show in Seattle, at a place called Suite 100. I only have three pieces in it, and I think the show is sometime this week. Yeah. One of the paintings for it is here.
I put the first sketchbook I finished in a Flickr set here. The first page is from 2007, and pages 2-60 is from March to Early April of this year. I'm hoping to finish 3 like it. They're part of that Moleskine Cahier three pack.
But yeah. Just been drawing and looking for stuff to draw. I went through my reference library looking for everything I wanted to draw but never did, and then I went through my old sketchbooks from my early twenties. And yeah. I really sucked at drawing back then. It's kind of sad.
Oh, what else is there? I've been doing collaborative drawings with friends. Here's one I did with Brendan, and one I did with Zach. It's weird. I don't actually draw with people. I really don't like drawing in public.
Yeah. I guess that's it. Not to make this a total Flickr involved update but my girlfriend is in the MFA program at CCA and she took photos from Open Studios and put them in a set here .
March 11, 2008
I made this drawing for a Year of the Rat themed show in Los Angeles. The opening is this Saturday at Giant Robot on Sawtelle in West LA.
That show in Portland is online. Uh, you can see the other work in it here, on Grass Hut's new website.
Uh, In a group show in Seattle in April. Then there'll be nothing. Until late summer when there's stuff to do in the East. East Coast. Like clam chowder. And Utz. And Papayas. And Cape Cod-ing. And seeing Edward Gorey's house.
March 3, 2008
I made a painting with my friend, Evah. It's for a group show in Portland at Grass Hut. That opens on the 7th. I guess Evah didn't want to do it by herself cause she paints pretty little, but when I had to do my half it sort of looked alright without my stuff on it, but whatever. Here's a link to that painting. I don't know where to put it on my website so I'm just going to link the flickr photo of it. Artist collaborations are pretty sweet. My friend Zach made a whole bunch with his friends for a show in LA. You can see them here.
Nothing much else is new. I went to see the Magnetic Fields, then the Rosebuds, and I made a second trip to Pescadero with friends. Artichoke Soup, Calamari Steak Sandwich, artichoke Bread, Old man with Rocks, "that smell", tacos from a gas-station, a small cemetery, foam on the beach, and hanging out in broken hut watching the sun set.
February 17, 2008
Hey you! I'm updating my website a little earlier than I thought I would be. I made t-shirts on my own, for the first time in 2 years (?). Yeah. The last time I did shirts, I went through my friend, who cuts me a stellar deal, but this time around I went through Ape Do Good in the City. They are awesome folks. Uh, cause, although my friend is a bit cheaper, I'd put an order in and wait forever for them. Like 3 months. Sometimes. It sucked. But with Ape Do Good, the turnaround was three days, and they did an awesome printing job.
So yeah. Also I restocked some sizes in the Oakland shirt. Yeah. Nothing else is new. I bought tickets for a Padres/Giants game. We have this pinata that we're waiting for a reason to hit it with. The same place had pinata's of little girls, and that's kind of weird, cause it's like hitting little girls is cool (?). Hmmm.
Oh, also thanks to We Heart Prints for linking me last week. I e-mailed them, and they linked me straight away. It was sweet.
Friends who updated their sites (that I know of):
Justin Gabbard
Rob Sato
Evah Fan
February 11, 2008
So yeah. I'm in some stuff this month. All in San Francisco.
Feb 16 Printed Matter III. I just gave them stuff I have on this site, but It has a lot of nice folks in it and is always a good show.
Feb 22 Monster Drawing Rally. 8-9 is my time slot that evening. It kind of looks like torture. I did it a long time ago, and it kind of sucked, but I'm getting better at doing things in public. Last month Marci and I did Sketch Tuesdays at 111 Minna an that went pretty smoothly.
Feb 29 CreativemindsSF. 7-9. One night. The Rosebuds are playing. Marci did their last cover.
Uh. I'm in a bunch of other group shows this year, and yeah. Haven't really been doing much. Been watching Civilsation. It's a bit dry but then the guy just comes out with information that's just really interesting. In those moments he's able to break down the most complicated things in a way that someone like me can understand it. Yeah. It's pretty sweet. Also finally saw Deep Water, and I'm finishing up this book on Sherman's March.
Hmm. Just waiting for the baseball season. I follow the Padres a little, so when they come into town I make my way into the City. I actually just like being in the stadium and eating stuff. I bought a hand-held transistor radio for like $8 at Walgreens. When I was in middle school during the summer I followed the Padres on the radio cause we couldn't watch TV. It really sucked cause they lost 100 games a year. But yeah. Now they're kind of okay. All my friends are Oakland A's fans, even the ones from San Diego so it's hard to con people to see a game. Also that and most of my friends don't like sports.
Yeah. Nothing else is new. I put some new stuff in the store section of my site. I'm restocking on some Oakland shirt sizes soon. I'm looking into getting a new t-shirt design made.
January 2, 2008
Hey! Nothing much for the New Year. I was at an opening on Saturday, and was reminded I'm in a show at 111 Minna . It has 110 other artists in it, and it's all 20" x 20" paintings. A 20" x 20" panel is kind of hard to find, so I painted on a store bought canvas. Uh, yeah. the opening is tommorrow night. Super Sweet.
Oh, 111 Minna is in the City, at the corner of Minna and 2nd Street. It's south of the Montgomery Street BART Station. You get out of the station, find 2nd, walk down it, and it's just one block past Mission. Just in case you've never been there.
